Relief from the Tapping Horror

The biggest problem I've had running Linux on a Sony z505r is that the touchpad has "tapping" on by default, that is, if you tap on the surfaceof the pad, and you tap hard enough, that counts as a click.  While I type, my thumbs tend to do this, leading to an annoying repositioning of the cursor, often in the middle of a phrase.

Fortunately, Bruce Kall modified his tpconfig program to work on this touchpad, in addition to Synaptics and others.  His main distribution page is http://www.compass.com/synaptics/.

I repackaged version 3.0 as "tppkg.zip", which you can download here.  You can decompress it again this way:

% unzip tppkg.zip

Then, read the file readme.html for more information.
